engagement party, soon-to-be the laurons

Apologies for the lack of blog posts lately, we've been MIA, busy with our daily lives. It's been hard to find the time to take outfit photos and blog - Nella's been busy with school and me with my full-time job, so it's basically been me posting outfits on our instagram (when I remember I have a decent outfit on).

I thought a post about my engagement party details would be a good one to blog about. Rewinding back a bit - I got engaged to my best friend back in June. We decided to throw an engagement party to get our families all together in one place and kick off our engagement year. Needless to say, our summer was busy planning for this engagement party and touring wedding venues.

Fast forward to a little over a month ago, Saturday, Sept. 17th. It was a delightful afternoon spent with those that are near and dear to us. With the help of my older sister, I successfully managed to pull off all the details for this party.

The venue we found for this fete is one-of-a kind and truly a rare gem. We instantly fell in love with it after going to see it for the first time. Madeline Garden is a French Quarter-inspired restaurant and venue. The decor is already so opulent and rich, with plush velvet chairs and gorgeous chandeliers, I really didn't have to do much in the way of decorating. I ordered desserts that were pinterest-inspired and my (soon to be) sister-in-law made us a pretty naked ombre cake that matched with the colors.

For the minimal decor that I did have, I ordered from Etsy.. just a few details that helped tie in the colors and floral theme. My older sister/matron of honor created and printed the seating chart and food & drink menus, and I found these cute calligraphy cut placecards on Etsy that guests were able to take home as a keepsake. The flowers for the table were bought the morning-of from the DTLA flower district (a fun little excursion that Marabee came with us on).

We couldn't have asked for a better way to have our two families come together for the first time and absolutely can't wait to have our big day here already  <3

  1. I love the space here. I attended amazing events at Los Angeles event venues and I ate more than I should. I had bread pudding, apple crisp, waffles and strawberries and cream. The main floor is very large and good size without being overwhelming, also there's tons of bar space too to order drinks.
