Here's me happy to be celebrating 30 years of life in Cabo San Lucas!

Turning 30 isn't so bad when you're celebrating in an idyllic place like Cabo. I've been to Cozumel and Puerto Vallarta, but so far Cabo is my favorite Mexican beach town. It was an ideal getaway, only a 2 hour flight from LA, but still far enough away to feel like we were in paradise. Six days were spent soaking up the sun and enjoying the warm turquoise waters of the Sea of Cortez.

We planned our water activities once we got there; and taking a boat to see El Arco and Lover's Beach was high on our list. These places are only accessible by water taxi which are easy to book on Medano Beach. A 10 minute water taxi ride took us to the southern tip of the Baja Peninsula, to a distinctive rock formation known as El Arco. The tides were high when we were there, but we were told that once every 5-7 years, the tides are so low you can walk under the arch.

After circling around the rock formations, we were dropped off at Lover's Beach, a secluded beach tucked away on the other side of El Arco. This was an adventure in itself - the tides were so high and the waves so choppy the water taxi couldn't get close enough to the beach. So we had to jump off the boat in waist-high water and wade towards the beach. There are two sides to this destination - Lover's Beach which faces the calmer waters of Cabo San Lucas bay, and Divorce Beach, which faces the choppy waters of the Pacific Ocean. The waves are super high and super huge on the Divorce side, making it an unswimmable beach but watching the waves was entertainment enough. Both sides were beautiful with powdery sand - not too many people were there the day we went, so it was a treat to feel like we had the beach to ourselves!

The immediate area around Medano Beach has a lot of places to eat offering authentic Mexican cuisine. We sampled Baja Cantina's ceviche and tuna tartare and sipped on coronas and margaritas at The Office on the Beach, both local eateries with beachside dining. We were lucky enough to get a table on the beach at The Office, five feet from the water. It was an awesome experience, waves lapping at our feet with a view of El Arco. The food was decently priced, but the setting is what you come for :)

On our last night, we had a special dinner for my birthday at El Farallon. This restaurant is tucked into the cliffs of The Resort at Pedregal and stocks the best selection of fresh fish from local fishermen. It is a very sought after oceanfront restaurant in Los Cabos, and one you have to make a reservation for months in advance. The location is absolutely breathtaking as it overlooks the Pacific Ocean, with the sound of waves crashing and a moonlit landscape. The service was impeccable and the quality of the experience overall was unrivaled. Before being shown to our table, we stopped by what they call their Champagne Terrace. We were then lead to choose our entrées from their selection of fresh fish, each prepared on the grill right outside. Surprise fireworks topped off our evening and ended a most memorable trip.
