oscar ready @ hollywood & highland

A day of getting red carpet Oscar ready at Hollywood & Highland!

Last Sunday, a star studded event took place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. The whole city of Tinseltown was preparing for the annual Academy Awards. I was fortunate to get invited to a day of getting "red carpet ready" at Hollywood & Highland. This entertainment center located in the heart of Hollywood, near TCL Chinese Theatre and the Walk of Fame, houses the Dolby Theatre. It was only right to primp and prime for the Oscars at this mecca so close to where the awards show was being held. The H&H center is known for being a tourist destination, but with it having a dedicated Metro station, it is an easy entertainment center to get to for locals as well.

With numerous brand-name retailers and restaurants, you can easily make a day out of exploring all H&H has to offer. That is exactly what my day entailed. My sister & I visited the center a few days before the Oscars, and there was a buzz in the air that I've never quite experienced before.

Our first stop was the Carmen Steffens store. A brand hailing from Brazil, they carry exclusive shoes, handbags and accessories handcrafted from the finest leathers.

My sister and I had the ultimate customer satisfaction experience while at the store with the sales girls being attentive and friendly. We tried on a few pairs of their heels/wedges and feel in love with the comfort and style of each pair - we had the hardest time deciding which pair to take home! I can see why this brand has such a celebrity following.

Our next stop was Chado Tea Room. My sister and I worked up quite a sweat trying on shoes, afternoon tea time was just what we needed. We were pleasantly surprised to find out that we would be doing a tea tasting. It included a tasting of 6 tea varieties - from white tea to black tea and everything in between. Our tea host was super knowledgeable and really knew the history and facts about each, we definitely came out of there knowing a little bit more about tea. The sandwiches and scones that came with the tasting was an added bonus to the whole experience.

With our fill of tea and sandwiches, we made our way downstairs to our next stop, MAC Cosmetics for an eye make-up session. My lovely mua, Nova Kaplan did an amazing job of coming up with a day-time subtle smoky eye.

Feeling ultra glamorous, and ready for a night out, our next stop was to the Grill on the Alley for some cocktails & appetizers. In honor of Oscar weekend, they had a red carpet worthy cocktail called the "Oscartini" for us to try. The gold flake rimmed glass was all we needed to hear. They were gracious enough to provide us with the recipe for this concoction - I know I will be making this for a future Oscars themed party :)

This appetizer spread was a sight to behold and just as yummy as it looks. **Note-worthy: jumbo lump crab cake w/ beurre blanc sauce.

Our last & final stop of the day, a visit to the Loews Hotel for a manicure at Exhale Spa. This was a nice little reprieve after all the sights and sounds at H&H. We got to take a peek into their barre studio and it was love at first sight (if I could just have one of those in my future home, I'd be set). The manicurists were sweet ladies, and although I did not get the full spa experience, I could see how it is a little oasis in the middle of bustling Hollywood. I did, however, manage to squeeze in a mirror selfie in the ladies changing room at the spa. Voilà! A little smokey eye action to show off ;) ((**They have some sweet deals going on from now until March 10th on GiltCity.com. << Click the link to grab a deal!))
